Adios, Mad Ass

Category: People

The downside to being involved in the production side of a holiday wedding is that one's schedule progresses from hardly manageable to next to impossible, and consumes every spare moment that doesn't even allow one to catch snippets of the news. And as I was finally taking part in the said wedding yesterday, little did I know that Saddam Hussein was brought to hang at some point during our merry-making. I mean, I could have been forewarned and not have to choke on my coffee a little, when I saw his somber face, while being led to his noose, plastered on the front page of the daily this morning.

I guess Saddam is old news and has really worn out his ability to shock and awe. I didn't even have the obscene curiosity to look for post-hanging photos, I mean, what for? Still, you kinda wished for a good year ender. And mind you, his passing gave reason for major celebration to many, many people. But the death of any person, even if the most hideous Mad Ass, brings with it some type of gore that goes along with good riddance, and isn't preferred holiday fare exactly. Well ...

Like Saddam we are soon to be rid of the old year, to welcome the new. May all bad vibes be blown away with the fireworks, to make way for fresher and better things for all of us. Which are super thoughts for a world with one less evil, and the coming new year.

hi liza,

i thought what a sad, wasted life. he had the best potential to be greatly remembered, instead he died a criminal's death and will soon be forgotten. i hope he had truly repented for his sins and made peace, just before he was executed.
