It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Category: Seasons

Right outside of our village is an army engineering division headquarters that likes to blare out old-fashioned Christmas songs from their speakers each morning (the manner of which reminds you of the waltzes and opera pieces played through the sound system of the Nazi concentration camps), which, apart from my christmas tree decked with several boxes worth of doodads and 'now you see them, now you don't' christmas lights inferiorly crafted in China, are sure indications that the season is upon us.

Not that I'm not feeling it, it's just that I've been inundated by frequent, little details of the everyday variety, times two, because of the matter of houseguests (my sister and her husband from NY) who delightfully bring happy chaos around our home, until the third week of December by which time they will be flying back into their winter. I've always envied of the White, Christmas-card variety Christmas, and my sister assured there's really nothing of the sort because it's only momentarily white then becomes dirty and sludgy, unless of course you're up in the mountains. Still, I want my White Christmas one day and my cold-dreading husband will have to give in to that sometime.

This time I've added a few more giftees to my ever-growing Christmas list which is fine but beginning to sound like a tall fricken order considering I'm a veteran of panic-driven last-minute shopping and do not appear to have reformed to this day. Still, I'm gonna photofinish beautifully as I always have, because some things just never change. Except for the fruitcakes I've always dreaded receiving all those years until they dwindled considerably the past two years (replaced by other homemade kitchen projects), which I kinda find alarming. Please, oh please, I want to receive even just three this season for the heck of it. Maybe I'll learn to eat them too.
