Dizzy Moon Friday
As far as I'm concerned, Vertigo is the name of some tortuous, barf-inducing, carnival ride, or probably a rave party anthem, or maybe the sorry consequence of a bad Ketamine trip. Anyway I have not encountered any of all that I mentioned, ever, but my hypochondriac sister pointed out that vertigo is what I had, for sure, that freaked me out one morning, a week ago, when I woke up, stood, then slumped down on the bed again. The world was just furiously spinning around me, and I felt like this soggy vegetable being sucked down by an In-Sink-Erator, into a waiting quicksand of pureed left-overs, something that dramatic, and nothing that cold water didn't fix.
Googling showed that vertigo can be the symptom of an ear infection, a balance disorder, or worse, a stroke or a tumor -- these things that Hypochondriac Sister regard as the usual suspects to her very own, frequent vertigo bouts, which dates back to years and years. I'm sure that one day, a doctor will confirm what she knew all along, should she finally decide to see one. Myself, I am totally convinced that my recent episode plus a mini-one earlier can only be caused by the unbearable heat.
Today being the Good Friday, all the malls and cinemas, these airconditioned oases, are closed, pity, and all I can really do is relax and think that it will be night time in no time and I, as a consolation, will be looking up to a dazzling moon, still a little full from yesterday; that I, being this summer sun-hater, really go through this every summer of life, I'm used to it; that the dizzifying heat must be good for something (ice-cream, aircon, Tylenol sales booster). And ever the optimist, I rest in the thought that La NiƱa is just hovering around these parts (for the year they say), and this heat, this too will come to pass and rain will not be far behind. Aaaahh.
