I Wanna Be Like Harry Houdini

A country on the brink of martial law wreaks havoc on the daily lives of her citizens. School and work are disrupted. The malls are empty. It's not good for the peso. And myself, I skipped the movie I was planning on watching last night, thinking it best to stay home to monitor the news instead. But to do beyond that is unthinkable for me, for I certainly do not have the calling to step out into the streets again to be counted. The last time I did, my odd presence could have been the one that completed the number needed to effect the mass hysteria that succeeded to change the Malacañang resident at the time, who knows. See where it brings us now. And yet again we have been fencing on the brink of changing government, but with no clear options to choose from, certainly nothing that offers any better than what we have at the moment. Recent events in this country's history have trained most of us to be callous, which I find to be a desirable trait in keeping oneself from getting too insanely frustrated. So this time I'm staying home to escape.
