In My Best Dr. Evil ...
The lenten week is the most looked forward to vacation time in the Philippines. Today, Maundy Thursday, is the beginning of a 4-day weekend which all city dwellers, more often than not, choose to spend up in the mountains or in the beach. And here I am at home, with stuffy nose, lumpy throat, aching body and matching demeanor. That's just great.
Then again, I shouldn't be whining because we didn't plan on going out of town anyway. I'm just being cranky because I am sick. Anyway, so much for driving around in the quiet and trafficless streets of Metro Manila, which in itself is a good reason for one to want to do the opposite of all those eager, happy campers who I imagine, just about now, are setting up tent or unpacking their bags after a long, tedious, drive or flight to their crowded destinations. Hah, I feel like a winner already.
And then there is forecast of a super typhoon to hit the country in the next 24 hours. Perfect. I mean, forgive me for sounding evil but I will happily spend the weekend being comatose in the weather that I love the most, if the typhoon stays true to her course. I am already having a vision of sunless days, howling wind and non-stop rain, my cold-induced pissness already dissipating as compassion starts to swell in my heart for all those vacationers who will be trapped in their spots .... Oh dear, tough luck for them. I'm sure they aren't planning for it to rain on their parade, you know ... Well, we'll just have to wait and see how strong the typhoon would be. If it is, Mwahahahahahahh.....
