Another One Of Those
We sat down to dinner at home this Thursday evening, it was nothing unusual. We had rice, chicken and vegetables, peppered with the usual conversation between three kids, husband and myself. Most of the conversation this time was centered on our dog. My little girl pointed out to her sister that she shouldn't give him too much chicken from her plate because he might, again, have 'runny poop and an oily butt', like he did last week. The two older kids pounced on that to gang up on the little one for talking about poo in front of dinner, feigning sickness over all that poo-talk which they claim had ruined their appetite. Naturally they got the desired effect -- the little one cried. Naughty big sisters, and typical dinner fare. My husband and I just smiled and shook our heads as I stepped in for timely intervention. Luckily, we all made it to dessert, and lived through a normal day.
So here we are, breezing through one other Thursday in our lives. It's not really over, but like most of the day, it shall come to pass unnoticed and uneventful. Counting all the Thursdays that we have woken up to, there is nothing particularly special about this one, nothing that will make it come rushing back to memory in the future. But then again, it must be days like this that made life easier in between those days when times were not so good. Yes, quite vaguely, I remember those days, those memories that seem to come from long ago, and far away, and forgotten now, almost, today, on just another Thursday ...
