April Fools

The thing that breaks the monotony to the otherwise boxed and repetitous calendar days are those marked in red. These are the days when we go out on a picnic or go out of town for a long drive. These work-free days are so welcome that even those who don't work feel like they're having a day off.

Red letter days are good in that we realize how we, as a civilization, are steeped in history and tradition. These days may have been marked long before we were born but we all know that these are the days when something happened in the past that is significant and worth taking the day off to observe. Our red letter days vary from country to country but one thing is for sure, everyone loves a party, and we can just all offer our collective thanks for having these days to celebrate.

Today is April Fool's Day. It may not be marked red on the calendar but it sure has some significance, or at least according to this. It may not be as hyped as Valentine's Day, or Mother's Day (days that are not marked red but very much celebrated), but for me, it is nevertheless remarkable. Why, come to think of it, it is actually worth celebrating with a picnic when one can be a legitimate fool for a day. After all, it is a tedious job to keep one's sanity nowadays....

Happy April, fool!
