Yo Ho! Yo Ho!

Category: Movies

Good things come to those who wait and this, I inadvertently learned again, when I didn't rush to the ladies room after they put the lights back on in the cinema, and instead sat through the lengthy credits of the Pirates of The Caribbean sequel, At World's End. I chuckled when I realized that less than 10 percent of those who watched did not linger long enough (did you?) to catch that one last scene of some 10 years later, which all the more convinces that a part 4 is bound to come out in the future.

It's a good thing that I waited this long and did not immediately surmise that third sequels of movie franchises have a tendency to suck, given my disappointment with Spider-man 3. Why, Spidey, oh why did you have to get too funky for my nerves? And in all fairness to Shrek the Third, I didn't find it to come short in the way that a lot of hard to please people declared it to be. I just found the Gingerbread Man singing 'In The Good Ship Lollipop' so cute, in the same way I'm happy to confirm my suspicion that Rapunzel was the sell-out one of all the Fairy Tale Princesses. Why, she had hair extensions! I knew it!

As for Pirates, I gave up at some point of watching to be in on to everything happening in it, for the movie was busy, busy busy!shocked Instead, I just sat back and enjoyed the richly textured visual treat that it is. And with the myriad of slimy characters and subplots aside, the beef will always be between Jack Sparrow and the rockstar (with all due respect to Keith Richards) Capt. Barbossa, geniusly played by Geoffrey Rush.

As for Johnny Depp, I'm absolutely biased -- everything he does is good. You see, there lies my weakness so when Johnny as Sparrow told Lizzy Swann 'Keep telling that to yourself, darling' (very loaded, mind you) to stop her from further wild imaginings, I thought to myself, good! good for her! I was jealous, of course. But before I ramble on any farther here, just watch it, and get on to the movie like it were a wild, enjoyable ride, which is no wonder, for Pirates of The Carribean remains to be the best Disney ride for me, don't you think?
