Happy Loser

Category: Randomly

I, the summer-dreading woman, have been through many changes lately, in the 49 days that I haven't blogged, foremost of which is my boldness to face the sun, but always properly prepped with an SPF30 sunblock. Yup, in this heat, I make it a point to slather on a layer, even when I'm mall-bound, as I don't want to leave it to chance to be left alone to the ravages of UV rays any longer.

Incidentally, the heat (and mind you, this summer's got the makings of a scorcher never seen around these parts in two years) does not stop me from stepping on my elliptical trainer, but only makes me doubly sweat-out excessiveness in 45-minute increments (I try to do twice daily), which makes me a lot more swimsuit ready than I was last year ... good!

One difficulty I encounter though is about reminding daughters to lay off the junk food and start stepping on the stepper as well, who very seldom take kindly to such reminder. I even heard about a potential anorexia baclash as a consequence for reminding, so what is a concerned mother to do? Just watch them quickly forget and head out for the freezer to reach out for the pint of ice-cream. Well, to each her own (flavor), I guess.

Hi, Poppycock! Welcome back!

I have a problem about how my daughter can lose her baby fats. Nagdadalaga na siya, hindi na magandang tignan. Hope when she enters college, she can be slimmer and more fit.

Happy Easter!

hello rhodora,

i think weight is a touchy subject for teenagers kaya we have to tread carefully when we bring it up with them. ako i tell my daughters that being a girl, i know how it feels when clothes start to feel tight -- nakakainis! then they ask me 'o, what are you driving at?' so i tell them. and they get mad at me, ha ha ha, hirap maging nanay talaga!
