"Plutoed" - 2006 Word Of The Year

Category: Stuff

The 11-year old Venetia Burney couldn't have known that she may have been short changed back in the 1930s. She received the amount of five pounds as reward for having come up with the chosen name for a brand new celestial object, which was later designated as a dwarf planet. And Venetia, having been inspired to name Pluto from the boss of the underworld, certainly has nothing to do with the fact that Pluto was recently voted out as a planet. But surely, you see how she had a hand on how it came about that her given name turned into the verb "Plutoed", which was voted 2006 Word Of The Year.

plutoed (verb) ~ to demote or devalue someone or something.
